We had a fun week talking about love, being nice, and celebrating Valentine's Day. We read a story about "warm fuzzies" and the children were given a few to take home and share with their family. I encouraged them to do nice things for their family members, and we talked about some of these things.
Many of our centers were based on Valentine's Day. This center helps children with their fine motor skills. Using tweezers, they pick up small hearts, and place them in the heart shaped muffin pan.
We made our Valentine's mailboxes this year from oatmeal containers. This was really fun, and they all did a great job at expressing themselves creatively.
Another activity we did, during center time and as a class, was matching our lower case and upper case letters, -heart style.
Chocolate play dough was part of my Valentine to the kids. They loved it! It smells deliciously good, but don't ask me to tell you what it looks like. ☻
Of course, no Valentine's Day party is complete without some heart shaped cookie decorating. I let them spread their own frosting, and a few of them went home with more on their faces, than on their cookies. ☻ Oh it was fun!! We all had a great time and learned many fun things!
Guess How Much I Love You, is a classic picture book. We read it and made a card for our parents, using a tracing of our hands and arms.
There are so many fun activities for Valentine's Day! We'll have to do a few of them next year!
